What I Loved: December 2017

What a month. December was kind of a whirlwind, which was to be expected. I spent half of the month frantically wrapping up the semester and the other half on vacation. Nothing to complain about there. Since not very much was done in December, this should be a pretty short one. Here we go!

Graduate School Coursework

I completed my last graduate school class — and my last class everĀ (!!!) — in December! There was so much work to be done that I barely got to celebrate that victory, but WOW! I can’t believe how quickly time is flying by! I know we all tend to like to slow time down, but not for this! Good riddance, coursework!

Vacation

Ah, sweet vacation. I had been looking forward to Winter Break for what felt like a century. I literally envisioned myself on the plane several times. I needed this break, okay?? Now that my vacation is finally coming to an end, I am devastated (~drama~). But I’m looking forward to a great year, and I’m ready to put in the work necessary to make it amazing. I guess that means I can’t just stay on vacation forever? Weird.

Christmas & New Year’s

I absolutely love the holiday season. I celebrated fully this year, and it was greatly fulfilling. It’s so important to take real breaks (get off that email!) and spend time with loved ones. I am so blessed to have a family I enjoy spending time with. And luckier yet to have had such a beautiful holiday season.

Fingersmith

Fingersmith is one of the most enchanting books I have ever read. And I do not typically like period pieces, so that is really saying something. This book is well and relatably written, it’s hilarious, and it has some of the best twists I have ever encountered in literature. A MUST READ.

Well that was it for December! It was a great month overall. Excited for a (hopefully) wonderful January.
